Switch Hits: Fight N Rage
What is ‘Switch Hits?’ The Nintendo Switch is one of the best consoles out right now. The portable aspect of it makes it so the games offered on it can vary from Triple-A to Indie. This makes it so that the online storefront for the Switch resembles an app store. A bunch of games in a list and little to no organization. The Nintendo E-shop is very hard to decipher from the never-ending list to not having any type sorting besides the search engine.
‘Switch Hits’ is your ongoing guide for the well-known games and the hidden gems. Now, these are not Switch exclusive games. These are just good games on the console. They could be new, old, exclusive, single-player or multiplayer. In addition to that, I am not a person that can always get every game when it comes out and I’m searching for deals constantly, so this series will try to focus on games that are affordable as well. Plus those weekly E-shop deals be smackin‘.
Fight N Rage is a bright and colorful beat em’ up that could easily have been at an arcade or Chuck e Cheese with The Simpsons or Ninja Turtles.
Mutant animals have taken over the earth and it’s up to your team to take it back. This Saturday morning cartoon premise gives fruit to some amazing designs from protagonists and antagonists alike.
The game at first comes off very simple. However, this game evolves very quickly by offering combat that has a depth that’s fun and rewarding. From parrying attacks to canceling moves mid-combo this game can be played in many ways. What makes this game more interesting is its multiple pathway storyline. Now in almost every traditional beat em’ up (Ninja Turtles, Final Fight, Double Dragon) going to the right is the way to go. In Fight N Rage you have a bit of a choice.

This choice also comes with different areas but also alternate story sections. This alone gives the game a lot of replay value however there’s more. As you fight as one of the three main characters you realize after a while from getting multiple game overs you are amassing a lot of in-game coins. These coins are used for unlocking cosmetics for the main characters but modes, and even extra characters. There is a legit fighting game mode In this game. I haven’t even unlocked all these modes, but the game has so much to do even when you think your done which shoots the replicability through the roof.

As I played it I was reminded of a lot of games I played as a kid. Where not everything was given to you when you boot it up for the first time. It allows you to feel the reward in finding something new, unlocking a mode, or finding a new route on a playthrough. It’s a revolving cycle of vibrancy that is a really refreshing and genuinely fun time. Its multiplayer supports 3 players so if playing couch co-op is a big thing for you then its there for you.
On the Nintendo E-shop, this game can run you 20 dollars. Luckily this game is a bit older. It’s on the sales list more times than not. But if you’re looking for a fun beat ‘em up to past the time then I would say that a 20-dollar price tag is well worth it because you can tell the developers put a lot of thought into this game.
